What Causes Skin Tags?

Skin tags are very common and an estimated 50% of the population will have them at any one time. They are equally common in men and in women, and increase in frequency with age; that is to say older people tend to have more skin tags than teenagers. What is not known though is exactly what causes skin tags. Some babies are born with skin tags, although this is unusual. Skin tags are usually the same as the rest of the skin on the body and are as small as a grain of rice. The most common type of skin tag is a small fleshy lump linked to the main part of the skin by a small thread like tissue.

A genetic link

It is certainly true that the tendencies to develop skin tags runs in families. People whose parents, grandparents or siblings have many skin tags are far more likely to develop tags themselves. There is nothing that can be done to stop skin tags developing, so knowing that there is a genetic link is not always helpful as there is nothing that you can do to stop the tags developing.

Obesity

Skin tags form in areas of the skin where there is friction, or where the skin is running against another part of skin. This is far more of an issue in overweight people who have more flesh to rub than much thinner people. Creases in the skin such as armpits and groin are the most common places to find skin tags, as well as often on the eyelids. Losing weight may well stop more skin tags developing, and staying a healthy weight will bring many other health benefits apart from lessening the chances of more tags developing.

Hormonal fluctuations and pregnancy

Many women find new skin tags developing on their bodies during pregnancy, especially during the second trimester of pregnancy and this is due entirely to hormonal fluctuations. Although the development of skin tags in pregnancy is nothing to be alarmed by, it is always important to consult a doctor before attempting any of the removal methods for skin tags which are available. Although some of the natural remedies and surgical procedures may be safely used on pregnant women, it is always best to check them over with a doctor first.

Diabetes

Medical studies have shown that people with a large amount of skin tags are more likely to be diabetes sufferers.  It is estimates that a large percentage of the population who have adult onset diabetes are unaware of this fact, and many doctors will routinely test older patients for diabetes if  they present with a large number of skin tags. Developing diabetes is also closely linked to being overweight, which ties in with patients who are obese being at a greater risk of having many skin tags.

Treatment of skin tags

Skin tags do not generally need to be treated at all unless they are causing irritation or are on a place on the body where they are causing embarrassment or making the patient feel self-conscious. The simplest measures for removing skin tags are snipping them off with a sharp pair of scissors or freezing them off with liquid nitrogen. There are also many alternative and natural remedies which can be highly effective and although they take longer to have a good effect, they are far less costly then the surgical methods. The decision about what methods to use will be based on the number of skin tags each patient has, and where they are located on the body.

Points to understand before buying Anti aging products

Some of the tips and things, which will come handy for you when you are dealing or buying anti aging product, are enlisted below, just understand them and set a target for your anti aging products. You will also have to understand that not all the products are suitable for your kin as skin type varies from person to person and not necessary that the product that shown clear results on another patient should provide the same results on your skin.

  • When you are buying anti aging products, make sure which part of the body you are targeting is it face for the wrinkles, dark spots, aging spots, loose skins or your hair which have started to reduce in volume and started to show your skull or else is it going to be the teeth. Considering these options, you will get an opportunity to zero your search to find the perfect product for you.

  • You will have to consider your monthly budget when you buy these products, because often you have to use them for extended periods and some of the products could cost you a fortune. Always consider to buy high finish anti aging products for short period, as they are costlier or elementary moisturizers will cost you less and can be used for lengthy periods.

  • Make sure you have complete idea about the potentiality of the products to display the results because without this knowledge you may fall in a pit considering the products as ineffective. Detailed knowledge of the product will help you sustain your patience for that time.

  • When you buy any product make, sure, you have detailed knowledge of the ingredients used in the product and if there are, any chemical ingredients make sure you are not allergic to these compositions. These circumstances will worsen your problems rather than providing you relief. A proper research on the products and their ingredients has to be done before buying these products.

  • Always make a habit to choose from the high quality supplier’s and if you have any doubts, you can consult your cosmetologist or physicians for his help. Often products purchased from high quality suppliers provide better results....
